A project to install Python 2 on the iPhone and a Mac was launched last week.
The goal was to install it onto devices which were running iOS 8 or later, such as iPhones, iPads, or MacBooks.
The code was released on Github and the project’s creator, Ryan O’Shea, has stated that it will eventually be available on other platforms.
It was created by developer Andrew Hennings, who has a background in web development.
“I wanted to give the community a way to help out and get started on this and get this up and running,” he told Hackaday.
“That’s what I’ve been working on since June and that’s why I decided to create this.”
The code is available on Github for anyone to download and run.
The project has already received some positive feedback, with the creator stating that the software is a “game changer”.
“It really is a game changer, for the community to be able to get up and play on the latest platform,” he said.
“We can be playing the latest version of python 2, we can have our favourite websites and apps and whatever else we want to, we don’t have to wait until it’s out there on the Mac or iOS.”
Users can install the latest code via Homebrew via the command: brew tap ubuntu/pip install pycsharp-dev If you’re interested in the project, you can find more details on the PyCSharp wiki.
